The town of Skiathos is a sophisticated place, featuring whitewashed houses with red tiled roofs and colorful balconies filled with flowers. The waterfront is dotted with cafes and restaurants and a lively marketplace. At Burtzi, the small, green peninsula that separates the harbor in two, there are the remains of an old fortress as well as a cultural center.
