One of the most lovingly refurbished villas on Mykonos, Papyrella indulges guests with sophisticated Cycladic hospitality and a feeling of being pampered by good friends. The villa takes its name from the papyrella, a boat made from the stems of the papyrus plant that was used 10,000 years ago in the Cyclades to travel from one island to the other. The villa boasts a 180-degree panorama of Cycladic islands and Mykonos town, allowing guests to imagine those early Aegean travelers leisurely crossing the sea on their way to trade goods or pilgrimage.
Papyrella stands out for its understated sophistication and unique character that follows an alternative approach to Mediterranean holiday living. The original 1980’s building has been completely renovated in 2019 and personally decorated by the owners with handpicked design objects, antique furniture, original artworks and modern equipment, in a way that feels casual, laid back and effortless. The villa’s cool interiors feature pristine terrazzo floors throughout, rustic wood-carved doors, traditional ceramic tiles and superior local marble for the bathrooms and kitchen. Outside, a variety of terraces, balconies and niches distributed around the property allow for increased privacy even among a large group of guests.
Following the natural slope of the hill, the villa is built on two levels. The top level includes the main living areas, a kitchen with outdoor dining area, the master bedroom and two double bedrooms. The lower level features a double bedroom, a suite and the pool terrace with outdoor lounge and dining area. An independent guest room with twin beds is tucked away in the garden, completely detached from the main house. All bedrooms have sea views and en suite bathrooms with shower.
